Kirby wins Best of Breed Puppy in Monroe, Michigan
(his first time being shown in an AKC sanctioned show)

... and, many months later (Feb. 8, 2004), his 2nd time out after a long layoff growing up, Kirby gets Winner's Dog (and his 1st AKC point) at the Hoosier Kennel Club show in Central Indiana.

On a roll now (1 in a row must surely be a roll), Kirby gets Winners Dog on April 24th at the Fort St. Clair (Ohio) Kennel Club Show.

And again the next day at the same show

Kirby got his 4th point on May 2nd in Bucyrus, Ohio in the cold rain, wind and mud. (I think he did so well because the ring reminded him of his muddy backyard!! :-) We decided not to get a picture since his lower half was nothing but mud! :-( |

Point number 5 (and Best of Opposite) came on May 16th in St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Point number 6 came on July 11th in Madison, Ohio. (And yes, that's real water in the background - Lake Erie to be exact :-)

Kirby's 7th point (and another Best of Opposite) came on August 22nd at the Western Reserve Kennel Club show in Berea, Ohio.

|
Point #8 (and a Best of Winners) came a week later on August 28th, a rainy, muddy day in Livonia, Michigan.

|
Point #9 (and a Best of Opposite) came on Sept. 18th in Butler County, Pa. Now that Kirby has all of his single points he'll no doubt be spending a lot of week-ends at home waiting for those elusive majors to come along.

A big thank you to Karen Morris-Booth, who's done a great job showing Kirby (and has put all 9 of his points on him). You only have to see the two of them together to know how much "Mr. Buckets" loves his Karen!

Kirby's show career notwithstanding, I wouldn't trade this boy for all the champions in the world. He's been a joy since the day I brought him home (okay, some days have been less joyful than others :-) and though they'd probably rot before they'd admit it, I suspect his Aunt Lucy and sister Fancy love him almost as much as I do.
